Mollet, Falcon, Flamholz, Snyder,
Ryan, Tucker, Greenwell and Workman
Named CAC Athletes of the Week
Mac Mollet (Gaithersburg,MD/Damascus), Kareem Falcon
(Severna, MD/Chesapeake), Dan Flamholz (Baltimore, MD/Park
School), Ashley Snyder (Millington, MD/Queen Anne’s County),
Tim Ryan (Herndon, VA), Ashley Tucker (Winchester,
VA/Handley), Kris Greenwell (Indian Heads, MD/Lackey)
and Sam Workman (Penn Laird, VA/Spotswood) were named CAC Athletes of the week
for their performances during the week of April 12-18, 2004.
Mollet, a senior outfielder from Salisbury University, earned CAC baseball athlete
of the week honors after helping the Sea Gulls through the CAC conference tournament.
Mollet’s three-run homer in the seventh inning propelled the Sea Gulls
to its fourth CAC title in the last five years and fifth overall. Mollet also
went 1-for-3 against St. Mary’s and 2-for-4 with a double and a run against
York on Saturday before his homer on Sunday.
Falcon, a junior outfielder from Salisbury University, earned CAC softball athlete
of the week honors after she went 6-for-8 (.750) on the week and helped the
Sea Gulls claim the CAC conference softball crown. Falcon tallied three runs,
four RBI, three doubles and a home run on the week. Her biggest game was against
Mary Washington in the title game, as she went 3-for-3 with a pair of runs,
two RBI and two doubles in the winning effort.
Flamholz, a freshman attacker from Goucher College, earned CAC men’s lacrosse
athlete of the week honors after he tallied two goals and three assists in the
Gophers’ win over Wesley and added four assists in the CAC quarterfinal
victory over Catholic. Flamholz now has 15 assists in the Gophers’ last
four games.
Snyder, a junior attacker from Goucher College, earned CAC women’s lacrosse
athlete of the week honors after she had an outstanding week. Snyder scored
six goals and added a pair of assists in the Gophers’ 14-9 triumph over
Catholic in the opening round of the CAC tournament. Snyder totaled 11 goals,
three assists, eight ground balls, eight draw controls and three caused turnovers
on the week as well.
Ryan, the number one men’s tennis player from Mary Washington, earned
CAC men’s tennis athlete of the week honors after he won the CAC title
at number one singles and was part of the triumphant number three doubles duo
as well. Ryan helped the Eagles to their fifth straight CAC title thanks to
his efforts.
Tucker, the freshman number one women’s tennis player from Mary Washington,
garned CAC women’s tennis athlete of the week honors after she won the
number one singles title in the CAC Championships. Tucker also teamed with Kim
Colwell to win the number three doubles title as well.
Greenwell, a freshman jumper from Salisbury University, earned CAC men’s
track and field athlete of the week honors after he set conference marks at
the CAC track and field meet. Greenwell surpassed 14’7” in the pole
vault to win the event and set new school and conference records in the process.
Greenwell also led the Sea Gulls to the men’s track and field title with
236 points.
Workman, a freshman runner from Mary Washington, won CAC women’s track
and field athlete of the week honors after she finished first in both the 100
meters (13.30 seconds) and the 200 meters (26.80 seconds) at the CAC Championships.
Workman was also the anchor for the winning 4x100 relay team which claimed victory
with a time of 50.62 seconds.
