Notes:
Women's Swim Notes (2/3/04): Mary Washington
closed the regular season with a 156-98 win over Randolph-Macon.
The 200 medley relay team of Susie Duke, Tricia Dilger, Amy Carlson,
and Maureen Greenlee turned in the best 200 medley relay in MWC
regular season history as they finished with a time of 1:51.92 Marymount’s
Jourdan Spark was double winner in the meet at Washington &
Lee. She won the 50 free (:25.25) and the 100 free (:55.54). She
was also a member of the winning medley relay team.
Women's Swim Notes (1/27/04): Mary
Washington fell to Gettysburg as the Bullets posted a 113-92 win.
Winners for Mary Washington included the 400 medley relay team,
Maureen Greenlee in the 50 free; Tricia Dilger in the 200 IM, and
Lauren Schmidt in the 200 butterfly. St. Mary’s defeated Salisbury
19-95 and junior Lillian Hnath paced the way with three first-place
finishes. Hnath took top honors in the 800 freestyle and setting
a new Salisbury pool record in the process. She beat the previous
record by over seven seconds. Hnath also won the 200 freestyle and
the 400 freestyle, missing a new pool record by about one second
in that race. Marymount defeated Catholic first the first time ever
in a dual meet. MU won four races in the event but also had nine
second place finishes. Salisbury split their two meets this week
as they fell to St. Mary’s on Friday before downing York on
Saturday. In the St. Mary’s meet, Meredith Rathcamp won the
100 backstroke while freshman Laura Allen won the 100 breaststroke.
Goucher’s Olivia Baumert turned in her fastest time of the
season in the 200 freestyle to account for the Gophers’ only
first-place finish against Washington. Her winning time was 2:03.19.
Women's Swim Notes (1/20/04): Mary
Washington fell at UMBC on Monday. Freshman Amy Carlson finished
first in the 100 butterfly, clocking in with a time of 1:00.60.
St. Mary’s won their meet at Gallaudet over the weekend, 123-41.
Sophomore Elizabeth Dobson led the Seahawks with three first place
finishes on the afternoon. Dobson was a part of the winning 200
medley relay team that finished in a time of 2:02.20. She also won
two individual races in the 50 free and the 100 butterfly. The Seahawks
have two meets this weekend, traveling to Salisbury on Friday and
then Catholic on Saturday. Salisbury’s women’s team
registered six individual first place finishes to defeat Notre Dame
on Friday. Individual winners for Salisbury included Rachel Lazarick
(1,000 free), Hilary Yates (200 free), Ashley Letterman (100 fly),
Meredith Rathcamp (100 back), Aly Hammond (500 free), and Laura
Allen (100 breast). In Salisbury’s Sunday meet against Catholic
and Goucher, Letterman won the 100 butterfly and Laura Allen captured
the victory in the 100 breaststroke. Goucher’s Stephanie LaGue
was the top performer in two events in the tri-meet against Catholic
and Salisbury. She won the 200 IM and the 100 backstroke in the
meet. York’s Natalie Mowery earned YCP’s lone first
place finish in the loss to Ursinus as she won the 100 breaststroke.
Women's Swim Notes (12/8/03): The Mary
Washington Eagles finished first in the F&M Invitational courtesy
of winning performances by the 200 free relay team of Amy Carlson,
Patricia Dilger, Susie Duke and Maureen Greenlee (1:40.81), Greenlee
in the 50 freestyle with an NCAA provisional time of 24.55; Duke,
Dilger, Carlson and Greenlee in the 200 medley relay with a provisional
time of 1:50.81; and Carlson in the 100 butterfly with an NCAA provisional
time of 58.67. The Marymount Saints claimed victory at the Randolph-Macon
Invitational with a score of 423. Alyson Reichl provided the only
first for the Saints as she won the 200 IM with a time of 2:23.83.
The St. Mary’s Seahawks finished seventh at the F&M Invitational
as Lillian Hnath broke her own school-record in the 1650 freestyle
as she finished second overall with a time of 18:07.46 in addition
to setting a personal best in the 400 IM with a time of 4:58.72.
Jacqueline Genau set a personal best in the 100 breaststroke with
a time of 1:13.27 while Karen Celedonia had three top-ten finishes,
as she placed fifth in the 100 freestyle, sixth in the 50 freestyle
and ninth in the 200 freestyle. Gallaudet’s Stephanie Danner
had two first-place finishes in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle
and a second-place finish in the 400 IM at the Randolph-Macon Invitational.
Hailey Hime and Silvia Herdicka were among the other Gallaudet swimmers
to score points in individual races at the Invitational. (Written

Women's Swim Notes (11/25/03): The
Salisbury women recorded five second place finishes and five thirds
to place second overall behind host Kutztown at the six-team Kutztown
Invitaitonal on Saturday. Freshman Laura Allen paced the women with
a second-place finish in the 200 breaststroke and a third place
finish in the 100 breaststroke. Lindsay Canover was second in the
200 freestyle and Ashley Letterman was second in the 200 IM. Mary
Washington defeated York and Gallaudet on Saturday, marking the
14th consecutive season that MWC has finished undefeated in CAC
dual meets. Marymount won nine events at the dual meet with Goucher.
Nina Kuziel, Jourdan Spark, and Alyson Reischl each won two individual
races while Kuziel and Spark also participated on a winning relay
team. St. Mary’s participated in the Terrapin Invitational
over the weekend but did not score as a team. Gallaudet’s
Stephanie Danner won her first 15 individual races of the year before
finishing second on Saturday in the 400 IM, her final race of the
day. For the week, Danner won seven of her eight races.
Women's Swim Notes (11/19/03):Mary
Washington fell to Georgetown 114-91 on Friday. Freshman Maureen
Greenlee broke the CAC record in the 50 freestyle with a time of
:24.41. Salisbury’s Meredith Rathkamp finished second in the
backstroke with a time of 1:07.33 in the loss to Washington. Hillary
Yates finished second in the 200 IM as she recorded a time of 1:06.45.
A team featuring Rathcamp, Laura Allen, Ashley Letterman, and Vanessa
Williams finished the 200 relay in a time of 2:01.45. The Seahawks
split their tri-meet with Goucher and Mary Washington this weekend.
The Seahawks defeated Goucher 55-40 . Juniors Lillian Hnath and
Karen Celedonia led the way for SMC. Hnath finished first overall
in both the 1000 freestyle (11:02.91) and the 500 free (5:27.04).
Hnath, Celedonia, Jacqueline Genau, and Beth Dobson formed the winning
200 freestyle relay team that finished with a time of 1:43.40. Celedonia
finished first overall in the 200 freestyle (2:00.74) in addition
to also winning the 100 freestyle (:55.72). The Seahawks are in
their second year of having no home matches due to the reconstruction
of Somerset Hall. St. Mary’s will have a new 50-meter pool
is scheduled to open in the fall of 2004.
