Fowler and McGlynn
Named CAC Athletes of the Week

 

Evan Fowler (Oak Hill, VA/Chantilly) and Kathleen McGlynn (Tallahassee, FL/Leon) were named Capital Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week for their performance during the week of February 16-22, 2004.
Fowler, a senior point guard from Mary Washington College, led the Eagles to a pair of CAC wins this week to earn the CAC men’s basketball player of the week award. Fowler began his week against Goucher as he became the CAC’s all-time assists leader as he dished out six helpers, breaking the record of 624 previously held by York’s Jason Saurbaugh. Later in the week, Fowler had 12 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists in 40 minutes of action in the overtime win at Salisbury. For the season, Fowler is averaging 8.1 points, a league-best 6.2 assists, and 3.4 rebounds per game.
McGlynn, a senior center from Catholic University, led the Cardinals to three victories this week to earn the CAC women’s basketball player of the week award. McGlynn began her week with 16 points, six rebounds, four steals and a blocked shot in the 89-88 win over York College. She followed that up with her fifth double-double of the year with 24 points and 13 rebounds in the win over Albright. McGlynn concluded her week with a season-high 27 points in the win over Goucher. For the season, McGlynn leads the Cardinals in scoring (14.0 ppg) and rebounding (7.2 rpg) while she is shooting 54% from the floor.
