CAC Announces Track and Field Post-Season
Awards
The Capital Athletic Conference announced the 2004 men’s and women’s
track and field Athlete of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year
awards after voting by the league’s coaches on Monday.
The men’s Athlete of the Year went to Catholic University’s Sean
Duggan. The Rookie of the Year award was earned by Salisbury University’s
Marcus Tines. Salisbury’s Jim Jones
and Gallaudet’s Tom Withrow shared the men’s Coach-of-the-Year
award as voted on by their peers.
The women’s Athlete of the Year, for the second consecutive year, was
Natalie Williams from Goucher College. Salisbury’s Ruth
Hedrick won the conference Rookie of the Year. Mary Washington’s
Stan Soper has been tabbed as the Coach of the Year. Soper
has now been selected as Coach-of-the-Year ten times by his women’s track
peers.
Salisbury earned the men’s team championship while Mary Washington captured
the 2004 women’s conference championship.
