2003-2004 All-Capital
Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Squad
The 2003-2004 Capital Athletic Conference All-CAC women’s basketball
team was announced on Wednesday morning after voting by the league’s coaches.
York College junior guard Heather Kessler was named the league’s
Player of the Year while Mary Washington’s Debbie Bruen
was picked as the Rookie of the Year. Goucher’s Charleata Neal
was named the Coach of the Year by her peers after leading the Gophers to an
eight game improvement over last year’s record.
Marymount, York, and Goucher each placed two players on the squads while Catholic,
Gallaudet, St. Mary’s, and Salisbury each had one player earn All-CAC
recognition.
Marymount University tied for first in the regular season and then earned the
CAC Championship and NCAA Tournament automatic bid with their win over York
in the tournament finals. The Saints, who are 24-4 heading into the NCAA Tournament,
host the winner of the Johns Hopkins/Alvernia College first round game on Saturday,
March 6 in Arlington.
