SIFE partners with the Association for Helping Entrpreneurs Achieve Dreams (AHEAD) and the York Business Academy to teach underprivileged entrepreneurs the basics of how to start their own business. The classes are taught by SIFE students, Sam Walton Fellows, and specialists. Currently, AHEAD runs three classes a year: fall, spring, and summer. The summer class is taught in Spanish for the Hispanic community. The goal of the class is for each student to have a general business plan drawn up by the end of the six week session. Lesson topics include: Business Strategy, Marketing, Professional Writing, Business Plan Writing, Finances, Franchising, and Permits, Codes, and Zoning. This is the third year the SIFE has participated in the AHEAD Program. What are the student roles? Each topic can be taught by 1-4 students at a time. We need students to teach the Business Strategy, Marketing, Professional Writing, Financial, and Franchising lessons. Materials are already prepared for a good presentaion, but it may be modified and expanded on.
