The mission of the Financial Stability Partnership, a program run by the United Way, is to assist families and individuals to secure the belief in a better future by acquiring skills which enable them to achieve meaningful improvement in their finances in measurable steps. The goal of this initiative is to develop strategies related to three steps toward financial independence: increasing income, building savings and gaining and sustaining assets. Financial literacy education will be an important focus. SIFE will be representing the United Way at a handful of college fairs this year in order to provide a better way to get key financial information to prospective college students. What are the student roles? SIFE students are needed in groups of 2-3 to attend each college fair. All of the information is provided for you. Some basic planning and knowledge is necessary. This is an excellent way to work on communication skills while not having to worry about difficult information to talk about at the same time. This fall, the college fairs will be held on a few different days. You must participate in two of the fairs to have it count as your semester project. No more students are needed at this time.
