York College in the City is an annual event sponsored by and run by Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), the York city administration, and many local businesses. The goal of this event is to connect the campus with the surrounding community. By exposing York College Students to downtown York, it gives them (you) more options for weekend fun or just getting out for a night. This year makes the 3rd annual event, and we are expecting it to be the best yet.

On Thursday, October 23rd, we will run a tour of downtown York that will be available for FREE to York College students. This year’s tour will kick off at Sovereign Bank Stadium, home of the York Revolution, with a reception and a greeting from the Mayor. There will be ballpark food and entertainment in the park before the tours begin, so there is no need to eat before you leave. After the reception, smaller tour groups will be lead to nearby restaurants and shops to greet the owners and receive discounts and giveaways.

Significant help will be needed before and during the tour to make things run smoothly. We need to successfully spread the word about the tour to ensure we meet our goal of 200 students. We need a lot of help to have people sitting at registration tables starting at the end of September in the Student Union and in Campbell Hall. During the tour, SIFE students will need to help guide students into the Stadium and be able to answer questions.
