FAQs

Why would I want to be a member of Eta Eta?

Eta Eta Chapter is the local (York, PA) chapter of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International. As a member of  Eta Eta, you are part of a community of nursing students, professionals and retirees who have demonstrated a commitment to nursing excellence. The meetings are a great place to network with other nurses!

How can I join Eta Eta?

The induction process occurs once a year. Nursing students (undergraduate and graduate) and nurse leaders apply for membership in the spring. Eta Eta Faculty Counselors review the applications over the summer. In September, they bring a list of potential inductees to the Executive Board for approval. In October, the inductees and their friends and family attend the Induction Ceremony. The inductees sign the Eta Eta register and are officially received into the membership. They receive membership benefits information and honor cords.

When is the next meeting?

Eta Eta sponsors at least two educational programs each year. We always include networking time and activities! Some of our meetings are done in collaboration with XI Chi Chapter (Millersville University) or Lambda Kappa Chapter (Messiah College). Check the Events page to see our previous program and the Calendar to see what is coming up next.

Executive Board meetings are usually held at 6:00 pm in McKay Nursing Education Center, York College, on the second Tuesday of each month. Members are welcome (and encouraged!) to attend those meetings.

How do I change my address?

Make change in your name, address, email address, and phone online! See the STTI Membership page.

I haven't paid my dues for several years. May I reactivate my membership?

Yes, once you have been inducted, you are always a member of Sigma Theta Tau. Members who have not kept their dues current are "Inactive members." See the STTI Membership page to find out how to reactivate your membership.

How much does it cost to be a member of Eta Eta?

$85 per year. Of that amount, $25 stays with Eta Eta Chapter and $60 goes to the international society, Sigma Theta Tau International.
